Bed And Bath Accessories To Dream Over
If money was no object, bed and bath accessories would be at the top of my list to buy. I would certainly decorate my bedroom and bathroom the way I want, not what I could afford. Before deciding on how I want to decorate I need to figure out just what style I would like. I have always been crazy about the Victorian era so I will start with a bit of history of that time.
Queen Victoria was crowned in eighteen thirty seven and died in nineteen one, thus the ‘Victorian’ era emerged. There were many changes during this time, the Industrial Revolution came to be. The world seemed to have changed over night. It was an extremely volatile time; and some of the greatest thinkers came to be, such as Charles Darwin, Lord Tennyson, Robert Browning, etc. So many of the romantic writers were living during this era.
Now that you have a bit of history of this era, let’s go on with decorating in the Victorian style of bed and bath accessories. As they are very ornate and can be heavy at times, the beds are the main focus for me. Along with the sheets and frames. Let’s start with my bed, it would be made of solid wood, mahogany because of the richness of the wood. It seems to have a softness about it; almost warm to the touch if you will. To me, mahogany is the most luxurious wood of all. It would be a queen size, of course, and it would have four tall posters. The bed sides would come half way up and be off the floor about a foot.
The head board would be somewhat ornate, the carvings will be of flowers. Roses, I think, would be nice. The foot board would continue with the hand carvings of the roses. I do like roses. The mattress itself will be of the highest quality as I do need my beauty sleep. No more cheap mattresses that only last a year or so. Nope, this will be top of the line and it will last a life time or at least twenty years or so.
Since money is not an object in my dream of the perfect bad and bath accessories let’s head to the shop and buy some sheets. My sheets would be made of Egyptian cotton and the sheet would be four hundred count, no lower. I am tired of sleeping on cheap sheets. This type of sheet is so soft and dreamy I might not get out of bed. They would be solid in color and they would be a nice dusty rose color.
My comforter and pillow shams will come from Ralph Lauren, hands down. He makes comforters with style and elegance in mind. He has one design that I have always loved and that is the vintage inspired pattern Adrianna. It is made of sateen material that is so soft and well, just soft. I do like softness when it comes to my bed and bath accessories. This comforter set comes with fitted and flat sheets, pillowcases, the duvet, or comforter as some people call it; a bed blanket, the bed skirt and three sham covers. The color patterns are soft, muted flowers with touches of gold, mauve and silver. Now, doesn’t that sound just lovely? I think so.
Now let’s finish decorating my dream bedroom with two bed stands, a large dresser with a mirror. Of course it is all made out of solid mahogany. The area rugs will be in mauve tones, solid in color. The lamps on the end bed stands will be beige with the fringe around the edges.
Now for the bed and bath accessories that will be in my Victorian style bathroom. Of course there will be the round tub, a big round tub. It would have two steps going up to the bathtub, made of soft beige stone. One side will be a soft glass that I can look outside when bathing. Of course there will be a view of nothing but mountains and trees. No peeping toms around. It will have sides wide enough to set plants and candles all around it. The faucet will be of the old country charm look, probably by Kohler. There will be a separate shower with jets at every height and on all four walls. The top will have clear glass so I can look up at the stars when I shower.
The toilet will be the kind that has the pull string and the tank is on top. Where the double sinks will go, will be made of soft pink Italian marble, going from one end of the wall to the other. The two mirrors will be framed in a soft mauve wood like material. In the middle of the sinks there will be some bath accessories that are a soft beige as the background with hand painted roses that are three dimensional. These are made of resin, but look and feel like fine porcelain. The set includes the soap dish, a lotion dispenser, two tumblers; the toilet bowl brush with the holder. And the tissue holder will complete the set.
So you see, anyone can decorate their bedroom and bathroom with whatever bed and bath accessories they want. I prefer the Victorian style. Many will decorate with a modern day style or early American. The choice is yours my friend and it doesn’t cost a dime to dream.
