Bed Duvet Covers For Every Member Of The Family
All right, so you do know what bed duvet covers are, right? Let me try and explain, for those who may not be familiar with the term. It is a French word that means top cover or sheet. Pretty simple, isn't it? Sure it is! They are stuffed with feathers or goose down and are sometimes used for warmth instead of a ton of blankets. I personally would never sleep under blankets again since I discovered duvets back in the nineteen eighties. I was on a trip to Belgium and saw how lovely they are, and so light weight. Bed duvet covers come in different styles and widths. I got mine in a queen size and then bought the cover that goes on the duvet itself. If you have never slept under one, please do so. It will keep you warm on the coldest nights and can be used in the summer as well. They are not heavy in the least bit.
Many Europeans do not use blankets as the Americans do. No, they use nothing but duvets and the covers are beautiful. One great thing about using duvets is that there is not a struggle in making the bed. Just pull it up and walk away. Now come on, how easy is that? Many, and I include myself in this, do not even use top sheets. With the bed duvet covers there is really no need to. Besides most of the time top sheets are a pain in the feet. They always get tangled in my feet and come out from the foot of the bed. I don’t even buy sheet sets anymore; I just buy the fitted sheet and put the bed duvet covers on my duvet.
So let us explore some of those beautiful bed duvet covers. There are many types of covers you can choose from. The materials can be, but is not limited to silk, wool or cotton. If you have a family and use nothing but duvets, I would go with the cotton covers. They are extremely durable and come in hundreds of colors and sizes.
Let's start with the little girl's room, or some teenager's room. The bed duvet covers for girls come in a variety of patterns and styles. If you have a girly girl for a daughter, try and get something that she will enjoy through the years. Or a good tip is to buy two or three in different colors and styles. This way she won’t get bored with them. There is one collection that little girls really like and that is the Bella Collection of bed duvet covers. This comes in a set that includes the cover of course, the bed skirt, a sham, which you will probably have to buy two of. Which is not a problem, as you can buy them to coordinate with the covers.

Say she is into pink, actually what little girl isn’t? There is one style where the duvet cover is covered in big beautiful flowers. The background is usually white or off-white. The colors of the flowers can vary, some are blue or pink or red. Let your daughter decide which one she wants. Then buy another one in a different color. The bed skirt will coordinate with the duvet covers along with the pillow cases and shams.
She will probably have twin beds, as girls love sleep overs. Then there are little girls that want nothing but lace and ruffles for her bed duvet covers. And that’s ok, I had them once. She might just want solid and loud colors, not a problem.
Now let’s get to the boys. They are a whole different breed, if you don’t mind me saying so. They like the cars and sports figures on their bed duvet colors. Again it is not a problem. Boys really get into the camouflage color of icky greens. For the wee little boys there are duvet covers that have little trains all over them, or maybe they would like plaid covers. They really look nice on a small bed. It’s like they fill out the room. And plaid is so boyish. If you have a teenager or a ‘tween’ try buying him the camouflage bed duvet covers. Or just solid colors such as midnight blue, dark green or red. Believe it or not, boys do like red.
There are duvet covers that have baseball diamonds on them or maybe he would like hockey or football players. The list is almost endless. Again, as with the girls, buy two or three of them, each different. So when they need to be washed, he can put on a new one.
Or maybe that boy is into the solar system. So many of them are, mine was when he was around ten. The bed duvet covers have the eight official planets that are going around the sun. These can come with a reversible throw pillow. The cover is of two hundred thread counts, that means it will last a long time. Then of course there is the ‘blast off’ pillow, how cool is that? I don’t know of any little boy that wouldn’t go for that. There are bed duvet covers for everyone in the family and you can afford to buy more than one.
